Ordered it after the third battery quote

My V8 needed a battery and the quote was most of what a new one costs, so I started looking at what else was out there. This arrived on the Thursday. The bit I did not expect is the screen telling you the percentage, because with the Dyson you got three lights and a guess. I do the whole downstairs and it is still in the forties. Three dogs in this house and I have not cut hair off the roller once since April.

Two golden retrievers and a 2,100 sq ft ranch

We vacuum every other day between the dogs and two kids and the old Shark was never charged when I wanted it. This does the whole main floor and the stairs on one charge with the screen still showing a third left. I have checked the brush roll three times expecting a rope of hair and there has not been any.

It is the first one that has not died in two years

I have bought three cordless vacuums since 2021 and two of them lost their suction by the second winter. This one is coming up on a year and the carpet still comes up with lines on it. The difference as far as I can tell is that you can buy the battery on its own, so when it does go I am buying a part rather than a machine.

Eighty one and I can carry it upstairs

My daughter set the dock up by the back door for me. I can lift it in one hand, which I could not do with the upright, and the tube pulls out so I am not bent over doing the landing. The only thing I had to learn was pressing the catch to empty it, and she wrote that on a card for me.

Replaced a V11 that died at 19 months

Dyson wanted close to half the price of a new one to put a battery in it, which is when I started reading. The thing that sold me here is that the battery pops out and they sell it by itself. Eight months in and it still pulls the same on the area rugs.

Very good, and I would still tell you about the bin

There is nothing wrong with how it picks up. On the laminate and on the stair carpet it does what I wanted. The bin is small enough that if I do the whole house in one go I am emptying it once in the middle, which I did not expect at this size. It takes ten seconds and it empties from the bottom so your hand stays out of it, but I would rather do it once a week.

I set the dock up in her hallway. She could not manage the upright anymore and had basically stopped vacuuming between my visits. She called me last week to tell me she had done the whole apartment, which is not a call I used to get.

Bought it for the car and kept it for the house

I only wanted something for the footwells and the boot. It did the car on a quarter of a charge so I tried it on the hall runner out of curiosity and it lifted grit I did not know was in there. The big one has not been out of the cupboard since.

Six weeks, a border collie, and no scissors

Anyone with a collie knows the undercoat comes out in handfuls twice a year. I have checked the roller four times waiting to find a nest wrapped round it and there has been nothing on it yet. I keep the brush tool clipped on the dock and do the sofa after.

A fortnight in a caravan in Wales

Took it with us and did the van out twice. It charges off the dock so you need to take that too, which I had not thought about, but there was a socket by the bunk and it was fine.

Good machine, wrong house for it

I want to be fair to it. On the laminate downstairs it is excellent and it does the stairs better than anything I have had. My problem is the lounge, which is deep wool, and on the top setting the head is genuinely hard work to push across it. That is physics and not a fault. I have kept it for upstairs and the car and gone back to the upright for the lounge, so three stars is about my house rather than the vacuum.

The dock holds the tools, which solved a drawer

The crevice tool and the brush used to live in a carrier bag under the stairs and I never once went and found them. They clip on the dock now so I actually use them. Small thing, made a difference.

Mine was faulty and it took a fortnight

There was a crack down the side of the bin when I opened it, so it never built up proper suction. I e-mailed on the Monday and they did not argue with me at all. What I did not like is that they wanted the first one back before they would send another, so I had no vacuum for a fortnight. The replacement has been perfect since and I would probably buy it again, but the fortnight was poor and I am not going to pretend otherwise.

Great vacuum, one honest complaint

It does the hardwood and the area rugs better than anything we have owned and it is light enough that my wife will actually use it, which the upright never was. On max it is loud. Noticeably louder than the Shark was. I use low for most of the house and max for the entry rug and then it is fine, but if you were hoping to run it while a baby naps, you are not going to.
