Danny came out for our yearly boiler service, ran through every check and showed me the readings. Spotted a weeping valve I hadn't noticed and sorted it on the spot for a small extra. Been using them six years now and it's the same standard every time.

Quote was clear, no upselling, and the price was in the middle of three we got. Two engineers turned up at 8, old boiler out, new Worcester in and running by mid-afternoon. Dust sheets everywhere and they hoovered before leaving. Registered the warranty for us too.

The repair itself was fine and fairly priced. My issue was the wait: rang on a Monday with no hot water and the first available visit was Thursday. I understand they're busy in a cold snap, but a small firm should say that upfront rather than 'we'll call you back'.

Dad's boiler locked out on a freezing weekend. They squeezed him in first thing Monday, diagnosed a faulty fan, had the part by lunchtime and heating back on by two. Engineer was patient explaining things to him and took his shoes off without being asked. Lovely local firm.

Had five radiators swapped and the system flushed. Neat job and the house is noticeably warmer. Knocked a star off because one valve was left slightly dripping and I had to call them back, though they came the next morning and fixed it without fuss.

Another company told us we needed a new boiler. Lacey's engineer looked at it, replaced a diverter valve and said it had years left. Could easily have sold us a £2,500 install. That's why we'll use them when it does finally need replacing.
